Baby Update

At yesterday's doctors visit we were told that we are probably having a little girl. However, because the cord was in the way the doctor would not guarantee the sex of the baby. Of course we are excited either way but because of all the nephews that we have we were kind of hoping for a little girl!!! We have to go back next week for another check up due to my pressure being a little high so the doctor said that he would check again to see if he can tell for sure. We will update you when we know more!!!

We love you all and hope to see you Saturday night at Macedonia in Ranburne, AL!!!

At Home!

We have finally made it back to Lineville, Home Sweet Home! I truly agree with the phrase, "There is no place like home." I hope to update you more this week on what is going on in the near future but for now I think I am going to rest. This week has been fun but only getting a few hours of sleep each night has worn both of us out! We love you all and thank you so much for your prayers. Most of all we Thank God for His traveling mercy!
Talk to you soon!

Fanfair Update 3

Hello from Chattanooga, once again! Terry sang at the SGM Fanfair this morning and although he did not sing at his scheduled time nor place he did great! That is a long story so I won't go into all of the details but we know that God has a plan and we two are just simple enough to believe that ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD TO THEM WHO LOVE THE LORD! There has been a lot of talk about the attendance at SGM Fanfair and to be honest it was not as large as what we expected. However, God had exactly there who He wanted there.
We were thrilled to see Terry's producer Mr. Eddie Crook and his wife Mrs. Janice at the convention yesterday and today. The Eddie Crook family has been such a blessing to us and it is great to know that they support us and all of their artist!
I would like to end on this note . . . Thursday night at the first annual US Gospel News/SGM Fanfair awards program, Karen Peck Gooch was voted as Soprano of the Year. When Karen accepted her award she made a comment that really made me think. I can not quote her exactly but she said something to this fact, "I am honored to work for the best boss in the world, Jesus Christ Himself!"
That is exactly how I feel. We all should be "employees" for Christ and we should rejoice in the fact that he chose to use us! I am so thankful that I can say that I enjoy what I do and that I work for the best boss in the world!!!

We love you all! Jessica

Fanfair Update 2

Good morning I should say, it is about 1:00 AM here in Chattanooga on Friday morning. We are just getting back to our hotel after a busy day at the Convention Center. There is so much going on and we don't want to miss a thing. I do have to tell you a quick story that happened tonight. . . As most of you know Terry sang with Brenda Robinson and New Desire for about 3 years before going solo. Tonight Brenda arrived at the convention center along with the rest of the group. The group let Brenda out at the front door for them to go park and for her to make sure everything was in order. Just a few minutes after she had checked in Terry went to her booth to make sure that everything was okay and found Brenda on the phone with Chasity. To make a long story short, Brenda had forgotten to put gas in the car they were traveling in and they had ran out of gas in the middle of the parking deck. She may be brown now but those roots are still blonde, just kidding Brenda we love you! Anyway, Terry and Brenda went to get gas in our car and after getting lost a few times they finally came back with 2 gallons of gas.
We have certainly had a great time at Fanfair and enjoyed getting to meet a lot of great people. I probably will not be able to update for a while as tomorrow will be another busy day but we do desire your prayers. Terry will be singing for the morning worship service on Saturday at 9:00 AM.

We love you all and hope to see you around soon!

God Bless!

Updates & Thanks!

Good Evening!
I would like to let everyone know that I spoke with Crystal (Blake's sister) last night and she said that Blake was getting good reports from the doctors thus far. He is still in lots of pain so please continue to remember him and his family when you pray.
We would like to thank MaChristies in Anniston for such a wonderful evening of worship and fellowship. They always show their kindness every time we are there. We have been in service nearly every night this past week and it has truly been a blessing. The best part is that it is not going to end. Next week we will be at the SGM Fanfair in Chattanooga, TN where there will be singing and preaching everyday. Please keep us in your prayers as we travel to Chattanooga early Monday.
I would like to add a special note to my parents, Jim and Dorene Barkley. As another year of my life approaches I can not express to the both of you how much I appreciate everything you do for me. I love you both very much and thank you for having and raising the daughter you didn't expect! LOL ; )

We hope to continue posting next week, however because we will be on the road we are not sure when we will have internet service. Until next time!

Urgent Prayer Request

We just learned that our good friend Blake Lightsey of Maryville FCM Church in Attalla, Alabama has been seriously injured in an accident at work. While Blake was working early this morning his hand was caught in a metal grinder causing his thumb and part of his palm to be ripped from his hand. The doctors were able to sew his hand back together, however they will have to wait several days before they know for sure if the surgery will be effective and if the thumb will have to be amputated. When Blake is awake he is in extreme pain so the doctors have him on several pain medications to keep him sedated. We ask that you keep Blake and his family in your prayers as they go through this trying time. Blake is a young preacher and we know that his faith is strong! Blake, we love you very much and we are praying for your speedy recovery! Terry spoke with Blake's sister Crystal and although her spirits were not the same she was able to remind us of this scripture.

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Matthew 5:44-45

We ask again that you all please remember all of the family; Mike, Tammy, Blake and Crystal in your prayers. We will keep you posted as more information becomes available.

Love,
Terry & Jessica

John 3:16

How many times have you actually read or quoted John 3:16?

Since I was a little child I can remember quoting this very familiar scripture and understanding that God gave His only Son to die for me that I may live forever if I would just believe in Him and Serve Him. But I just recently was "studying" this verse and realized that there is so much power in the first four words: "For God so LOVED..."

It is so hard for me to understand how God could love someone so unworthy as I am. How that He would take a black heart full of nothing but sin, faults, failures, and disappointments and cover it with the precious blood of Jesus, then somehow make it white as snow. It's just amazing! "For God so LOVED..."

Throughout my life I have often stopped and just wondered how in the world did all of the bills get paid this month, or how did my cabinets seem to be full of food and the car or motor home full of gas that we may journey on to spread the Gospel of Christ? Then I just quit questioning how and started thanking God because He was blessing us so much. My wife and I began giving Him praise for all of the things He was doing in our lives and for that He just kept blessing us more. "For God so LOVED..."

I still can't help but question sometimes how God can love someone enough to take care of their every need. He knows just exactly what we need financially, spiritually, physically, and mentally. We have seen money float into our banking account when we thought we were down to our last dime. We have been lifted by inspirational and anointed messages when we thought our faith was dwindling. We have been blessed with the physical abilities that do not limit us from our day to day activities. Scripture daily refreshes us mentally that we can learn and grow in Christ. "For God so LOVED..."

GOD'S LOVE is so unconditional. He has no favorites and no "clicks". He simply is GOD! A true friend and He so LOVED and still LOVES YOU!

"For God so LOVED..."

Terry Helms

Please Pray for the children!

Our local schools started the school year today, and as you all know schools are no longer the safe place that we once thought of them as. Please pray for all the children that God will be their guide and that no matter what problems arise they will let their light shine for Jesus!
We want to wish our nephews, Beau, Aaron & Kaz, the best school year ever! We pray that you boys will always remember Philippians 4:13 KJV, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
Love-Terry & Jessica

What's Happening in August!

I hope that all of you are enjoying our new blog. We hope to add to this each week or at least every other week to keep you all up to date on what is going on with THM. We are very excited about some upcoming events that are happening this month!
First of all, we will be off this weekend to celebrate the marriage of our friends Adam and Jennifer! We wish them the best of luck and pray God's Blessings on their marriage. On August 8th we will be at a Revival with our good friends Brother Ronnie and Sister Ellen Key at Union D Baptist Church. Then next weekend, August 13, 2005 we will be at Machristies in Anniston, AL. We always enjoy being with our friends there! If you want to hear good singing and eat good food come out and join us at Machristies on Hwy 431 in Anniston.
The next week (August 14th-20th) we will be at the Chattanooga Convention Center for the SGM Fanfair! There will be a lot of groups performing that week and we look forward to meeting lots of new people and hopefully seeing a lot of our old friends. For more information about the fanfair check out the web site at www.sgmfanfair.com. Terry will sing at a worship service there on Saturday Morning, August 20th . We would love to see you all there!
Another important date for us in August will be the 25th! We should be able to find out what are little baby is!!! Although, boy or girl, doesn't really matter to us, it will be fun just to know what it is so that I can get Terry busy on the nursery!!! At the last Dr's visit we were told that we had a "hyper" baby. I turned to the doctor and said, "For those that know its daddy this is completely understandable." Ha Ha!
On August 27th we will be at Macedonia Baptist Church in Ranburne, AL with our friends New Desire. As most of you know Terry traveled with New Desire for a little over three years so it will be very exciting to see them all again.
So as you can tell August is going to be a very busy but fun month for us! We look forward to seeing you all around! Also remember, if you would like to book Terry for your next event please call our office at 256-396-1222. We would be honored to come and worship with you!

We love you all!
